Come to this free workshop to experience and learn in a hands on way how Microsoft Project 2010 and SharePoint 2010 can help your organization quickly and efficiently collaboratively manage work and projects.  The workshop will be led by experienced practitioners from Microsoft and BrightWork who will walk you through a series of guided exercises.  Come, learn and try for yourself.  You will have free access to the SharePoint environment you setup in this workshop for 30 days to continue your learning.

9:40 – 10:05 Microsoft Project Professional 2010 Introduced

See the new capabilities that make Microsoft Project 2010 the easiest product ever for project planning and re-planning, including but not limited to the new user interface, the new timeline view, the ability to manually schedule and the capability to 2-way sync from Microsoft Project to SharePoint.

10:05 – 10:30 Managing Projects with SharePoint and Microsoft Project – a Case Study and Short Demo

Hear why the architecture of SharePoint and Project is such an awesome platform for collaborative project management. Hear the story of a customer who use SharePoint and Microsoft Project to “streamline project management” as profiled by the Gartner Group.

10:45 – 12:45 Hands-On Workshop: Manage Projects with Microsoft Project and SharePoint

In the hands-on workshop you will be guided through a series of exercises to manage a handful of projects using a combination of Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Project. You will experience how to manage to manage small projects and large projects. You will also experience the 2-way sync from Microsoft Project to SharePoint. Finally (with the help of the BrightWork plug-in) you will see how you can use SharePoint and Microsoft Project to manage across many projects.

12:45 – 13:00 Conclusion, Q&A and Next Steps

Delegates will have free access to the projects and the Project Office created for 30 days after the workshop.

Steven Lindner

Steven is a Project Solutions Architect with Springhouse Education & Consulting Services and has over 20 years of experience delivering solutions to federal, state, financial, pharmaceutical, advertising, and e-commerce clients. He is experienced with PMI, RUP, Agile, Scrum, and other methodologies. Steven has implemented custom software, vertical solutions, and integrated various systems. His work has been featured in magazine articles and cited in technical journals.
